Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Machine Shop Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of a machine shop, the successful candidate will be responsible for planning, operational management, and problem-solving to ensure the machine shop meets its performance targets and support the company’s overall strategic objectives.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CNC machine shop environments, possess a keen ability to drive efficiency, identify areas for improvement, and develop training and succession plans.
This role will require strong collaboration across all departments to ensure that organisational objectives and production goals are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement manufacturing strategies and action plans as directed by the Managing Director to align the machine shop with business objectives.
- Plan and manage daily production in line with the order book and future projects.
- Programme, setting up, and operating CNC machines.
- Ensure production documentation is logged and updated.
- Monitor performance targets, including quality and productivity metrics.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
- Manager and develop a multi-skilled, flexible, and motivated team
- Problem-solve.
- Implement lean manufacturing practices to enhance efficiency.
- Positively contribute to an open and inclusive culture.
- Ensure compliance with safety, process, procedures, and quality assurance standards.
- Program/offline program using CADCAM software.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Strong levels of IT skills including MS Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Proven experience as a Machine Shop Manager or similar role in a high-level manufacturing environment
- Proficient in CAD/CAM software.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong knowledge of CNC machining processes and equipment.
- Experience with CADCAM software and CNC machine operations.
- Proven experience managing or supervising in a CNC machine shop environment.
- Focused on delivering high-quality products that meet customer satisfaction and standards.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to plan and work systematically.
- Adaptable to change and able to manage pressure effectively.

25 days annual leave + bank holidays.
37.5 hours – overtime @ 1.5 after this.
Working hours: Monday-Thursday 7 am to 4 pm, Friday 7 am to 12 pm.
