Overview
We are seeking an Electronics Technician to join a great business based in Stevenage. The team are small and experienced, they manufacture market leading products and in the Prototype market. The ideal candidate will have a breadth of skills from soldering of through-hole and SMT components, re-work, assembly of finished goods and test of low volume high value avionics instruments. Ideally, they will have experience in fault diagnostics using electronic test equipment, re-work of surface mount PCB’s, experience in improving production documentation, processes and test equipment.
As a small team, the person will need to demonstrate the ability to work with little supervision, be proactive and a self-starter. The person will need to demonstrate great attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Experience with schematic capture and PCB design tools for diagnostics is essential and an ability to fix the fault.
In return, they offer flexibility on working hours within a core 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.
This role is full time.
Duties
- Working from assembly drawings and building packs
- Carrying out fault diagnosis to component level
- Testing and diagnosing customer product to company and industry standards
- Soldering conventional components
- Pre-form, insert and crop component leads using hand tools such as cutters, pliers etc
- Hand place surface mount components using SMT soldering
- To be responsible for the accurate and timely testing and diagnosis of PCB Assemblies working in line with specifications and Company processes to support production throughput.
- Knowledge around test equipment (multimeters, Oscilloscopes etc) would be essential
- Be able to identify a fault and repair it.
Experience / skills
- Proven experience in electronics assembly, test and repair, with a strong electronics and mechanical knowledge base.
- Familiarity with hand tools used in electronics build, diagnostics, repair and maintenance tasks.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with team members and customer support.
- A relevant qualification as a technician or an engineer in electronics or a related field.
