Overview
We are working in partnership with a local business which specialise in Prototypes & Low Volume Production Sheet Metal Pressings, Stampings and Fabrication to the Highest Quality, working in various sectors such as automotive, aerospace, defence, Formula 1, and the film industry. We are currently seeking a Press Tool Design Engineer to join their CAD team. Interested, please read on, it’s a long spec… sorry, but it is all about the detail.
Responsibilities
- Produce various press tools for manufacture based on customer component designs
- Utilize CAD software to generate and model press stamping tools
- Use finite element analysis packages to simulate and predict pressing behaviour
- Engage with suppliers to source competitive prices for tooling materials
- Liaise with the press team to convey the stamping process and press data required for the manufacturing process
Qualifications
- Proven experience with computer-aided design and surface modelling software, ideally with Autodesk Powershape or Fusion 360
- Basic understanding of finite element analysis
- Knowledge of steel fabrication processes, materials, and industry standards
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in a similar environment
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Ability to always maintain confidentiality
Day-to-day
- Undertake job role with potential to develop further through on-the-job and vocational training
- Communicate internally within the business and externally with customers
- Read and interrogate detailed 2D engineering drawings and 3D CAD models
