Junior Structured Cabling Engineer (Apprenticeship Opportunity)

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our clients team as a Junior Structured Cabling Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start a long-term career in the IT and communications infrastructure industry. You will work alongside experienced engineers to install data cabling systems, including CAT6, CAT6a, and Fibre Optic networks, across commercial and industrial environments.

For the right candidate, we will provide full training and enrolment in the NCI Apprenticeship Scheme to gain formal qualifications in Structured Cabling and Network Infrastructure.

Essential:

  • A genuine interest in IT, networks, or electrical installation.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and follow technical instructions.
  • Good practical ability and attention to detail.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
  • Full UK driving licence (or working towards).
  • Ability to travel to various sites when required.

Desirable:

  • Basic understanding of cabling, fibre optics, or construction site work.
  • CSCS/ECS card (can be obtained after joining).
  • Previous experience in a trade or technical environment (advantageous but not essential).

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willing to travel and work flexible hours when required.

Day-to-Day

Your daily activities will include assisting senior engineers with the installation of structured cabling systems, supporting cable routing and containment installation, and learning to terminate outlets and patch panels. You will also help with testing and recording results, maintain tools and equipment, and attend training sessions to develop your skills. You will work closely with a team of experienced professionals, gaining hands-on experience and mentorship.
